A glossary to understand each other

Mobility

The set of characteristics susceptible of movement. We are talking here about geographical mobility, that is to say the capacity of each person to move whatever the distance covered.

New Mobility

This includes all the new transport, information and communication solutions that allow people to move around in a customized way on a daily basis. We also talk about Smart Mobility.

Shared Mobility

The fact of satisfying the movement of people via vehicles while reducing their environmental impact, in particular greenhouse gas emissions. This is also known as ecomobility.

Soft Mobility

Includes all active mobility, i.e., where the only energy is human (walking, cycling, scooter ...), but also collective or individual means of transport with low CO2 emissions.

Urban Mobility

Within the urban area, includes the movement of people for daily activities related to work, shopping and leisure

Active Mobility

A form of transportation that uses only physical activity as a source of energy (walking, cycling, scooters...)

Roundtrip station based car sharing

Service allowing anyone to use a self-service vehicle for a fee, with the vehicle being returned to the initial car-sharing station

Free floating station based car sharing

A service that allows anyone to use a self-service vehicle for a fee, with the vehicle being returned to any station reserved for the car-sharing service.

Free floating station based car sharing

A service that allows anyone to use a self-service vehicle for a fee, without the need to park. Vehicles are picked up and dropped off at any on-street parking space.

Peer to peer car sharing

Service allowing any person to use a vehicle belonging to a third party for a fee.

Test Drive

A service that allows you to test-drive a vehicle before potentially purchasing it. A service that allows you to test and discover a vehicle before potentially buying it.

Pick Up & Delivery

Home service that simplifies the life of motorists by providing a valet to pick up their vehicle, transport it to the garage and return it once the maintenance or repair is completed.

Conveyance

The act of moving a vehicle (heavy or light) from a point of departure to a point of arrival. In the automotive services sector, it is also called jockeying. More rarely the term convoying is also used.

Driver

A person driving a vehicle from a point of departure to a point of arrival.

English term for a driver or chauffeur.

Valet parking

Driver offering a high quality service to move a vehicle from point A to point B and then back to the point of departure.

Person in charge of moving a vehicle (heavy or light) from a starting point to a destination. We also speak of a Jockey in this context.

Top of the range service reserved for motorists wishing to save time by delegating to a service provider the management of their vehicle for maintenance, repairs, technical inspection, impoundment ...

Short term rental (STL)

Rent a vehicle for a period ranging from 1 day to 1 month.

Medium-term rental (LMD)

Rental of a vehicle for a period ranging from 1 month to 1 year.

Long-term rental (LLD)

Renting a vehicle for more than one year.

Fleet

Group of vehicles belonging to the same company/organization

Car-sharing fleet

A set of self-service fleet vehicles for subscribers who can use the vehicles for a limited time.

Dealer

Point of sale for vehicles of one or more specific brands.

New Vehicle

Vehicle that has never been driven.

Used vehicles

Vehicle that has been previously registered regardless of mileage.

Car fleet

The entire automobile fleet of a company.

Smart repair

Carrying out numerous road repairs to minimize vehicle unavailability (tire repairs, parts replacement).

Electric charging station

Device allowing to recharge an electric vehicle in full safety and with a maximum efficiency.

Recharge with 2kW AC current

Normal load

Recharge with 3kW AC current

Accelerated recharge

Charging with 22kW AC current

Charging hub

A central point with several charging stations where several vehicles can be charged simultaneously.

Vehicle relocation

Analysis of the usage flow of each fleet and process to reallocate vehicles in order to maximize the probability of leasing each vehicle with a return on investment.

Car washing

Process used to clean the exterior and interior of vehicles.
